Keeping it natural

Anonymous asked: I am so new to Green and have been using a "wellness" companies shampoo. I keeping hearing about No-poo and want to know what it is, how it works, etc? Can someone just walk me through it please? Also does anyone use a natural hair color? I have colored my hair for years and just wondering if theres something out there I can use that's natural and safe for me and the environment.

I stopped coloring my hair at least a year ago, so no help with that, but I went no-poo months ago and love it. I use 2 cups hot water to dissolve 5 tbsp of baking soda and pour into a clean old shampoo bottle (or you can buy a plastic bottle to put this in), shake it up well before using. For conditioner, I use 1 cup white vinegar and 1 cup apple cider vinegar and throw a cinnamon stick in the bottle for scent, but you can use essential oils too. To wash, wet hair and apply baking soda mixture to scalp and massage for a minute or 2. Rinse well. Apply vinegar rinse, avoid getting it in your eyes, and run it through then rinse. For the first couple of months I used coconut oil after my shower in my hair to help keep it soft. I use it on my stretchmarks and bikini area, so when I was done wiping down my body I ran my fingers through my hair, ends first up to the roots. Be careful to not use too much oil in your hair. If you want though, you can use a bit more oil and let it sit for an hour to over night, then rinse in the morning… Ive heard it makes hair super soft. Oh and try to only wash twice a week if you can, your hair may go through a greasy period, but if you stick with it it will get better. The point is to let your hairs natural oils take over and to stop using chemicals and artifical softners.

Anonymous asked: My hubby and I are trying to conceive, have been for about a year after having 2 miscarriages. I was diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder and have been put on of course prenatals, folic acid and iron supplements. I go through them pretty fast and I know that some people buy supplements with the intent of taking them but then don't. So instead of just letting them sit or throwing them out I would love to take them off of your hands!

Have you ever asked your doctor if they’ll give you samples? Mine usually do if I just ask. And some of the big drug companies like pregnacare (here) if they will send you samples from their websites.

I have gotten some free samples off of the internet but most companies I’ve already gotten them from and they’ll only send one per household. I usually get mine from Wal*Mart. I wish the dollar tree cariied them where I live, that’s where I get some of my other vitamins.

Good luck!

Anonymous asked: Any help for morning sickness? I am about 8 weeks pregnant, and I am nauseous almost all day, every day. It is nearly incapacitating. And I have a lot to do! Like taking care of a toddler, unpacking from our move last week, working at our failing restaurant.... what can I do? The only relief I have found was when I had an ICEE today and the nausea subsided for about 3 hours.

I think for most people it’s worst from 8 weeks to 12 weeks.

Vitamin B helped me more than anything else. I think it’s B12 but not sure. You could google vitamin b and nausea and it should come up with the right one.

See that’s when nursing comes in really handy! I’d just sit on the couch and rather than having to be energetic I could just have Duncan sit and nurse…

B-100 is what and ginger is what some take. also the accupuncture rist bands but i dont know where to get them. i am going to google it though.

You could try alternated cups of chamomile tea with cups of peppermint tea. My sister did the same with ginger and licorice root.

This might sound crazy…but some say it does help:  Eat very strong cinnamon ball candy.  It diverts the senses…confuses them…it certainly helped me and I was so nauseaus that I finally had to take meds as I was losing weight!  And, I was sick through month 6!!!  Anyway, try it.  It’s cheap, transportable and your breath will always smell lovely!  Bless your heart.  I remember that time…
